MCA Architecture was co-founded in 1982 by Architects Mr. Stephen R. Cuddy and Mr. Daniel S. McAuliffe (1950-1994). The firm’s offices were originally located in Sacramento and Fairfield. Over those years of business MCA established its roots throughout Northern California. In 1998, with the firm’s increasing success, the founders decided to move the MCA headquarters to Napa Valley. Business relationships continue to grow under the leadership and creativity of MCA's President and Principal Design Architect, Stephen Cuddy. Our team of professionals provide exceptional services to all clients. MCA's goal to provide “Service with Abundance” as the guiding principle behind our architectural design services. We have an extensive background that provides us with the talent and experience to address a full range of design and planning issues. We work with owners, developers, lenders, and operators on new and existing developments including residential, winery, retail, restaurant, office, industrial, lodging, and historic renovations in local, national and international environments.MCA is a U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) member and a Bay Area certified ‘Green Business.’ Principal Architect Stephen Cuddy is a certified LEED accredited professional. The firm is committed to serving our client’s sustainability requirements, and fulfilling our own objectives to support the improvement of our environment. MCA’s ownership installed a 28.7 KW PV solar array consisting of 180 PV modules on our office building two years ago. The system provides over 50% of our electrical energy needs. Stephen Cuddy, AIA, LEED AP began his career in architecture after graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He worked for various architectural firms as a project manager before starting MCA architecture in 1982. As the Principal Architect and Director of Design and Marketing, Stephen devotes his time and consideration into all of the projects that pass through his firm. He is committed to providing creative and high quality design services to all of his clients.Stephen is not only dedicated to the success of his firm, he is also dedicated to the success of the Napa Valley community in which he lives. He is serving as a board member for Napa County Landmarks and the Preservation Action Committee. He was a member of a group of citizens and professionals who updated the Napa County General Plan, a plan that guides the future growth and development of the Napa Valley. Stephen’s community involvement extends further than architecture; he enjoys coaching young athletes in his favorite sport, baseball. He also continues to play baseball and travel to play in tournaments. Even with his love of architecture and baseball Stephen’s family is his true love and passion. He is a dedicated husband of 32 years and father of a teenage son and daughter. Traveling is a passion that he and his wife shared for many years before becoming parents and now they are blessed to share their love of exploring new places with their two children.
